The health of our clients and their families and our nurses and health care workers are our absolute priority. We are here to support our families and our staff members, together we will go through this unpredicted time. We have put together several detailing updates, Government guidance, restrictions, support available and advice on the pandemic. Financial support for nurses and care staff who cannot work due to self-isolation

We know how difficult this time can be for our nurses and care staff, maybe you are worried about having to self-isolate or becoming unwell as result of COVID-19, or you need to take leave to take care for loved ones who have contracted COVID-19 and the frightening financial impact this could have.

We are here to help and support you, there are a number of options available to you, in addition to government support. 

What support is available to you during this time?

Statutory sick pay (SSP) to be paid from day one of isolation

Directly as a result of COVID-19, emergency legislation has been introduced to allow workers in full-time employment to seek SSP from the first day they’re self-isolating and cannot work. Read more here.

Employment and Support Allowance

Anyone not eligible to receive sick pay, including those earning less than an average of £118 per week for example, self-employed people or working in the gig economy, is able to claim Universal Credit and or contributory Employment and Support Allowance. Read more here.

Mortgage holiday for homeowners affected by Covid-19

Individuals who were financially affected by COVID-19 can apply to their mortgage lender for a mortgage holiday. Read more here. 

Payment Holidays for Help to Buy homeowners affected by Covid-19

Homeowners who are struggling to pay interest fees on their Help to Buy equity loans will be offered payment holidays. Read more here. 

Complete ban on evictions and additional protection for renters

Emergency legislation has been introduced to suspend new evictions from social or private rented accommodation. Landlords will also be protected as 3month mortgage payment holiday is extended to Buy to Let mortgages. Read more here.

Cavell Nurses’ Trust

If you are unable to work due to COVID-19 and you do not have access to any financial support or insurance. You can also find financial and emotional support at the Cavell Nurses’ Trust. Please also tell your colleagues about Cavell Nurses’ Trust, if you notice that they are feeling the strain, emotionally or financially.
